This deck mount converter is of ferro-resonant design. This type of converter produces a regulated 12-volt DC output when connected to a battery or simulated battery; otherwise the output will be a few volts low and unregulated. Ferro-resonant converters can withstand overloads and short circuit operations indefinitely.
